Every single notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, along with any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS
We offer three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we provide all three of them rather than only one since we realize that you might want to install some software which has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're various software programs you could install on the web hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you wish to use one and because of this we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you want a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting
In case you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the order page as we want to give you a wider choice for the system environment on the server as different apps may have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you've selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you would like to run. We can also upgrade your OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
